Where’s the tissue paper?

Obama aired a 30-minute special last night as the final punch to McCain’s campaign. And guess what, not at any moment during the special was McCain ever mentioned. But there was of course soft stories of the average struggling American family, and Obama voiceovers, and past Obama footage. It was very well presented. Especially the old couple in the beginning where the wife was on a dozen different medications and couldn’t afford it, so the husband, after retiring, had to go back to work at Wal-Mart so that his wife could keep her medications. Ah, I’m guessing the tissue paper industry got a slight revenue boost from that. It was almost as sad as Simba’s dad getting trampled to death.

As usually, she wears a black dress to the interview. She talks about being Sarah Palin and how that’s changed her work life, the new season of 30 Rock, and the numerous guest stars appearing, including Ms. Oprah Winfrey in the second episode and what it felt like to hug her on screen.

Download Part 1. Part 2. Michelle Obama stops by Leno with about a week left to go until the Nov. 4th election. She discusses the economy, her husband (some misc. family stories), her side of the family, and the fact that she wears a J-Crew outfit and shops online sometimes. She also reminded Obama supporters to go out there and vote, and take nothing for granted despite Obama’s comfortable lead over McCain. On another note, she’s TALLLL. She’s gotta be 5′10″ or 5′11″, and then you add 3″ whenever she wears heals, and you get one intimating woman.

Photoshop CS4 is SLOOOOOWWWW

Damn, this program is slow. Even with the use of the GPU via OpenGL, the redraw rates make dragging layers around look like a slideshow. Overall it just seems to run slower than CS3. It does have some nice features though. Now when you view an image at 33% or 66%, everything is sharp rather than severely jagged-looking. As for the new features like 3D capabilities, I never use them, and I’d imagine that very few designers have any need for them. Photoshop has always been a great program, yes, but Adobe needs to optimize the software better and not make the whole thing so bloated when it runs. Adobe Reader (at 33MB) has already been bested by Foxit Reader, a much more efficient and faster program that does virtually the same thing. Who knows…one day Photoshop’s reign may come to an end when Adobe gets lazier and lazier and other smaller companies start catching up to its features.

11 more days until election

Finally, it here! It’s been 18 months of me following at first, the Democratic race between Obama and Clinton, and now the hatefest between Obama and McCain. In my 23 years of life, I’ve never followed any political activity as much as this one. Voter numbers are expected to be at an all-time high (as a percentage of the people eligible to vote). I already turned my absentee ballot in so I don’t have to deal with the long lines I experienced in 2004. Obama looks like he’s going to win by a significant margin, but you never know. But whoever wins, there’s going to be TONS of backlash from the other side, and I hope the Secret Service (especially in Obama’s case) is on full alert in the coming weeks. There’s a bunch of crazies out there.

World of Goo = crack addiction

Wow, what a great little indie game. To sum up, in each level you have to connect Goo dots together in order to reach a pipe, where all the Goos will be collected. It’s a puzzle and physics game, and it’s really well executed and tons of fun. And there’s also no commitment either since the game is broken into individual levels, so you can just play one round for 5 minutes and then go about the rest of your day. So far the game has received high marks by the critics and fans alike, and there’s also a demo to try out. Shit, it can be addicting!

Download the full sketch HERE. I must admit, I did not think Sarah Palin would actually appear on SNL, which is known to be pro-Democrat. But you know what, Tina Fey is hotter than Sarah Palin. Really, she is. Now as for the quality of the sketch itself, it’s not really funny. The other three Palin sketches were far more enjoyable. SNL should’ve written a better part for Palin. It was kind of a let-down. UPDATE: Ah fuck, I didn’t record the Amy Poehler rap song with Sarah Palin sitting at the desk during Weekend Update. Shit, you’ll find it somewhere else!
