Inspiration from TED

If there’s one place where I like to refer to people for inspiration, it’s TED. To sum up, TED (which stands for technology, entertainment, design) holds an annual conference where they invite well-known speakers to share their ideas about the world. All the talks are free to the public, and nearly all of the speakers have something really worthwhile to listen to and watch. My personal favorite is Ken Robinson, where he talks about how schools are killing creativity. I’m still surprised at how obscure TED is to the public. One of my favorite websites.

Guy tries to do ‘Oprah’s Big Give’: videoDL

So Oprah has a show called Oprah’s Big Give, where contestants go out on the street and give away as much money and offer as much help as they possibly can. It’s basically a huge charity show. Then, yesterday, on Jay Leno, an eccentric comedian decided to do his own version called the ‘Little Give.’ He goes around LA and does small favors for people. Check out the video of how it went down. It’s a direct download, so just Save As.

Sara Bareilles on Leno 7/9/08: video download

Here it is (direct download, Save As…)! Also, in case you’re going to directly link it, please link to this post instead just to give me credit (and also hits), ha!

This recording was just testing out the recording capabilities of the Pinnacle TV Tuner for my laptop, so I figured I’d record tonight’s show. Another pretty song. I’m not actually a fan though. I’ve only heard one of her songs previously, so this marks the second. She’s reminds me of the Alicia Keys/Vanessa Carlton type artist because she plays piano while singing. Anyways, enjoy! I’ll probably record my favorite guests on talk shows whenever I’m watching them. You can watch the full episodes of NBC late night on their website, but it’s a pain to deal with ads, streaming video, downloading plugins, and also not being able to save stuff on your hard drive. Direct download always will be best!

My favorite Joker clip in The Dark Knight

The hype is unbelievable. This is my favorite clip from The Dark Knight so far. So fucking great! I hope that if he does end up getting the Oscar for supporting actor at the next Academy Awards, it will truly be because he deserves it rather than because of his unfortunate death. RIP Heath Ledger.

High Def = pure eye candy.

I know, there’s so many people with high def TV programming already, but this is new for me. I’m watching it via this little device and the included antenna. It’s local news, so of course the clarity is top notch. It’s great for portability and for those who don’t watch television a lot. Also, I get NBC, ABC, CBS, and FOX in digital/high-def, and those are basically the only channels I watch anyways. Plus, I use a MacBook Pro, so if I wanted I could take my television anywhere. Pretty neat.

Quarantine: WTF is this movie?

Have you seen the trailer for this movie? It’s about these firefighters and policemen who go to investigate some old woman in a big house, and she suddenly turns zombie on them. Then the entire crew is locked in and quarantined, and everything goes to shit and people go crazy. And the camera work is exactly like Cloverfield, which is exactly like Blair Witch. I’m tired of this shaky-cam shit. It just feels like some excuse to have bad cinematography and get lazy. And how many cliches is it going to have? This all sounds like a crappy movie. Fuck that shit.
