Would you wear any of this?

Final Fantasy games are known for their storylines, RPG gameplay, and epic scale adventures. But they are also known for dressing up their characters in the wildest fashions. Take a look at the fashions on the left. Is there an article of clothing that you would wear? Certainly if you’re the conservative type nothing in these games would do it, but I’m sure Victoria Beckham would experiment with some of these. I know, they should hold a fashion show with real models wearing real life versions of Final Fantasy fashions. I think some of these would be viable today. Just tone down the colors. Things that are too vibrant tend to look tacky and costume-like.

Adriana Lima: ever see anyone look this good?

Outside of a photoshoot and without any Photoshop? This was taken a while back by paparazzi during one of her visits to a Victoria’s Secret retail shop. I don’t think I remember seeing anyone look that good in a photo. I was looking to see what I could possibly “fix” and the only things were the several dark specs on her face. Aside from that she has this perfect pose. The kinda model pose that says: “I really want you, but if you come near me I’ll bite your head off like a praying mantis” type of look. What Is Sexy? Is that rhetorical?

Chevron: ‘Human Energy’ Ad Campaign

This is really old. But I just remembered this ad campaign by Chevron. Probably one of the best in recent history. The ones you’ve all seen are most likely the 30-second versions, but there’s a 2:30 full length version. It’s executed perfectly. Cineamatography, music, narration, everything.

In this day and age with high gas prices, environmentally conscious people, corporate filth, and just a general dislike for oil companies, Chevron comes out with this brilliant ad campaign to mitigate all of that bad. Check it out.

Karl Lagerfeld: Design Philosophies

Karl Lagerfeld, one of the greatest fashion designers. Read his wikipedia here. But definitely check out the interview he did with Charlie Rose (ignore the other woman). A lot of design philosophies for you to ponder over. Very eloquent person, and with very strong opinions.

For the record, the Charlie Rose show has basically every interview uploaded at youtube, making it one of the most accessible shows. If you’re into fashion design, also check out the interview with Ralph Lauren. Equally great philosophies for you to ponder over and agree/disagree.

Storage Options: a Canon lesson in design

I just noticed this about my portable Canon printer. Not only is it gorgeously designed and matches my MacBook Pro, but it stores away very nicely in three possible orientations. The vertical position on the lower-right is completely stable. Why is this important? Well sometimes you don’t really have a lot of area on a plane to set something, however you do have plenty of space directly above, so the option of being able to slide the printer on a bookshelf alongside the other books is pretty neat. So props to Canon for not only shrinking the size of the printer, but making nice surfaces for easy storage.
