I’m not one to rant about celebrities, but…

earth\'s little alienChristina Ricci just came across my TV and I was kinda taken by her forehead. I mean, I kinda have a proportionally bigger forehead too, but hers is ridiculous. Tyra Banks has nothing on her. Christina is probably earth’s little alien, and if you peeled back her skin you’d find a X-Files-esque green alien hiding underneath. And yet, there’s something really attractive about her. Maybe it’s because I watched Black Snake Moan, but her facial proportions defy all “beauty standards.” Proportionately massive forehead, large bug eyes, and a really pointy chin. Completely out of the norm, and yet everything holds together.

Watch out for the cursor!

Have you ever encountered this during a presentation?

Some guy’s clicking through the slideshow, but all of a sudden (because he moves the mouse/trackpad) you see this bright white cursor in the middle of his presentation, and it’s distracting as hell! Maybe it’s just me, but it’s like I can’t even pay attention to the content when there’s a tiny little white spot on the slides. To understand what I’m talking about, check out this TED presentation by Adam Grosser. For those of you who don’t know about TED, it’s an annual conference where a group of brilliant thinkers gather to share their ideas on technology, entertainment, and design. This guy’s session is only about 3 1/2 minutes. You’d think that everything would be rehearsed perfectly, but no. Watch as he moves the cursor to play the video, but then FORGETS to move the cursor away again! The resulting distraction is huge!

It kinda reminds me of that TIDE commercial:

…where an interviewer only notices a brown stain on a person’s white shirt, and can’t seem to get over it. It’s completely how I feel about the cursor.

So please people, PAY FUCKING ATTENTION TO THE DETAILS!

A testing ground.

So I just set up this blog to test out the technology. I’ll be mocking up a custom blog design for myself in Photoshop, and hopefully I can apply wordpress or some other blogging software to it. I’m just beginning to understand web development, and there’s a long road ahead…
